Enhancement and statistical optimization (Plackett-Burman and response surface methodology) of biosurfactant production by marine bacteria Bacillus tequilensis KM15 using Fish processing wastes

چکیده

Biosurfactant (BS) production by Bacillus tequilensis KM15 is investigated using fish processing wastes as medium components. Bocha (B) and Rohu (RR) scales are selected cost-effective substrates for BS optimized together with pH, the incubation period (IP), inoculum size (IS) response surface method (RSM). RSM model has demonstrated following optimum conditions production: 4% each, 2%, at pH 8.0, 37 ̊C temperature in 48 h. A 2.8-fold increase biosurfactant was obtained (from 340 mg L-1 basal to 944 L-1) methodology. The major portion of cost can be reduced currently studied substrates.

Optimization of Chitinase Production by Bacillus pumilus Using Plackett-Burman Design and Response Surface Methodology

A soil bacterium capable of degrading chitin on chitin agar plates was isolated and identified as Bacillus pumilus isolate U5 on the basis of 16S rDNA sequence analysis. In order to optimize culture conditions for chitinase production by this bacterium, a two step approach was employed. First, the effects of several medium components were studied using the Plackett-Burman design. Among various ...

Plackett-Burman Design and Response Surface Optimization of Medium Trace Nutrients for Glycolipopeptide Biosurfactant Production

Background: A glycolipopeptide biosurfactant produced by Pseudomonas aeruginosa strain IKW1 reduced the surface tension of fermentation broth from 71.31 to 24.62 dynes/cm at a critical micelle concentration of 20.80 mg/L. The compound proved suitable for applications in emulsion stabilization in food, as well as in cosmetic and pharmaceutical formulations. Methods: In the present study, Placket...
